2020 Annual Report
January 22, 2021Propane Safety: What You Should be Doing During Summer
June 10, 2021Warmer weather is finally here, and one of the main recommendations we have for you during this time of year is to have your propane tank filled. The #1 reason for a summer propane refill: to be prepared for when the cold weather does inevitably return.
Speaking of being prepared, you should always be mindful that the warm summer months come with chances of severe weather. Having a full propane tank will ensure you have a backup energy source in the event of an emergency, but be sure you are following other safety precautions if you are in this situation.
Capitalize on Pricing
Another reason for a summer fill-up? Prices. Propane prices fluctuate throughout the year, but it is common for prices to be lower in the summer compared to winter. The main contributing factor here is usage. Although you may still be utilizing propane during the summer for certain appliances or outdoor heaters, it isn’t as consistent or in the same quantity as your winter usage since you aren’t having to heat an entire house. Because of this, prices of propane tend to drop.
Why does this happen? Supply and demand.
The demand for propane is much lower in the summer months, allowing for lower costs. With a lower demand, there is greater supply of propane, which is why propane suppliers are able to lower the prices. The reverse is true in the winter months. With colder temperatures, demand for propane is higher causing the supply to decrease, and with lower supply comes greater cost.
Of course there are always unexpected factors that could contribute to propane price fluctuations. For the most consistency with your pricing, consider enrolling in one of Premier’s propane programs.
2021 Propane Programs
To give you the best possible pricing and convenience options, Premier Companies offers three different propane programs that you can enroll in that include a summer propane refill:

This program offers a risk free cap on the price that you pay, protecting customers from fuel price spikes. One major benefit of this program is that you pay the lower price when fuel costs are below your cap. This is a great opportunity to ensure savings with your propane costs.
Star
The Star Program offers fixed price protection with predictable monthly payments. Customers get 11 months (July-May) of guaranteed fixed pricing, regardless of what the market does. This program is great for budgeting purposes, as the payments are calculated by estimated annual fuel costs and split into 11 equal payments.
Pre-Pay
The Pre-Pay option gives you the ability to make one payment in full at the time of enrollment. You will receive one fixed rate for your fuel, helping you save costs if fuel prices rise. If you have credit on your account at the end of the 10 month term of this program, it will be applied towards the new year’s program.
