EP 39: June USDA Report, Hot Dry Run, & New Crop vs. Old Crop

The Eastern Corn Belt has been on a hot, dry run so far this year.  Host Sal Sama is joined by returning guest Aaron Bledsoe on this episode of The High Ground, powered by Premier Companies, headquartered in Seymour, Indiana.  Aaron is the Grain Merchandiser for Premier Companies, and as such, he’s got a front row seat to see the fluctuations in the market.

Aaron and Sal discuss a variety of topics including break even prices, weather, what drove the market fluctuations, and acreage reports.  Aaron also talks about how inflation, a potential recession, and changing oil prices curb demand.  Sal also covers the risk management tools that are available including a new program called Impact RX to help cover growers, share the risk, and help finish strong.  “You don’t want to go out there and try to protect this and make as many bushels as you can and not have a marketing plan on the backside of this to try to limit your risk out there.”
