Save the Date: Premier Agronomy Customer Meetings August 8th & 9th 2024
July 30, 2024At Premier, our roots run deep in the heart of Indiana’s agricultural community. We are proud to announce our continued commitment to supporting Indiana 4-H, an organization dedicated to nurturing the next generation of agricultural leaders. Through hands-on learning experiences and leadership development programs, 4-H empowers its young members to cultivate their skills, knowledge, and passion for agriculture. Our partnership with 4-H Indiana is more than a sponsorship; it’s an investment in the future of agriculture, ensuring that the traditions and innovations of farming thrive for years to come.
Since 2020, Premier Companies has partnered with the Indiana 4-H Foundation to provide scholarships, sponsorships, and gifts to County 4-H programs in our service area. Not only that, many of our employees and board members volunteer their time on their local 4-H Council and Fair Boards as well as serve as 4-H club leaders. The Indiana 4-H Foundation supports Indiana 4‑H programs and advances public awareness of its excellence and power to change individuals, communities, our state, our nation, and our world by securing generous donations for program development, materials and events.
We are happy to report that thousands of 4-H’ers have benefitted from our involvement with the Foundation. Premier was able to commit over $100,000 to various 4-H projects across southern Indiana for the 2023-2024 cycle, and we are excited to continue this support in future years. For more information about the projects that were made possible by these funds, visit the Indiana 4-H Foundation website.
What is 4-H?
4-H, which stands for “Head, Heart, Hands, and Health,” is a youth development program that provides experiential learning opportunities to millions of young people aged 5 to 19. The program’s mission is to engage youth in hands-on projects and activities that foster skills in leadership, citizenship, and life sciences.
4-H originated in the early 20th century in rural America as a means to introduce new agricultural techniques to young people and their families. The program was founded on the belief that youth could lead the way in adopting and spreading innovative farming practices. The first clubs were known as “corn clubs” for boys and “canning clubs” for girls, focusing on improving crop yields and food preservation.
As 4-H grew, it expanded beyond its agricultural roots to include a wide range of projects and activities, reflecting the diverse interests of its members. Today, 4-H programs cover areas such as science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM), public speaking, animal care, environmental stewardship, and more.
4-H’s impact on youth and communities is profound. Studies have shown that 4-H participants are more likely to pursue higher education, engage in civic activities, and adopt healthy lifestyles compared to their peers. The program’s emphasis on leadership and personal development helps young people become confident, capable, and responsible adults.
Because of the positive impact that 4-H has on the youth in our community, Premier will be a proud supporter of this organization for years to come!
