EP 125: Market Volatility, Current Grain Markets, & Bucket List Items
March 12, 2024Sustainable practices are becoming increasingly imperative for the survival of our planet, and implementing these practices throughout the agriculture industry is necessary, which is why Premier Ag is proud to partner with Truterra. Truterra is revolutionizing the way farmers approach sustainability in the United States, offering services that provide comprehensive agronomic and financial resources designed to help farmers through every stage of their sustainability journey.
Truterra allows Premier Ag to encourage our farmer owners to use conservation agronomy to maximize production while minimizing environmental impact. They do this by offering various programs that our farmers can enroll in to assist with whatever stage they are in. One program that is offered and is currently open for enrollment is the Truterra Carbon Program. We encourage our farmer members to take advantage of these programs by enrolling in those that are applicable to them. For questions about program offerings or how to enroll, please contact your Premier representative.
2024 Truterra Carbon Program
The Truterra Carbon Program helps eligible farmers offset some of the financial risk associated with the transition to conservation agriculture practices and potentially reward them for their impact – whether they are new to these practices or introduced them four or more years ago.
Farmers can benefit from an incentive of $30 per metric ton, with a minimum payment of $2 per acre for the program. Eligible crops include corn (grain), soybeans, wheat (grain), or cotton with some restrictions in crop year 2022-2024. The deadline to enroll in the Truterra Carbon Program is July 31, 2024. For further details and enrollment, download the information sheet provided below.
Truterra’s Impact
By enrolling in these programs, farmers can potentially experience enhanced agronomic, economic, and environmental benefits by implementing conservation agronomy practices in their fields:
- Work towards enhanced nutrient cycling and water-holding capacity,
- Help decrease input costs and losses,
- Help improve yield stability and profit potential, and
- Work towards reduced soil erosion and nutrient losses.
The impact of Truterra extends far beyond individual farms though. By promoting sustainable practices across a network of over 1,900 farmers and 29,000 fields, Truterra is helping to create a more resilient and sustainable food system for future generations. Through its commitment to innovation, collaboration, and farmer empowerment, Truterra is leading the way towards a greener, more sustainable future for agriculture in the United States and beyond.
