At Premier, apprentices will receive paid on-the-job training and technical instruction from Ivy Tech Community College – Columbus, while developing skills and knowledge of becoming a professional applicator.

Curriculum
AUGUST - DECEMBER
AGRI 223 Plant Pest ID & Control
Identification and control of weeds, insects and diseases. Control methods include prevention, biological control, resistant varieties and pesticides. Pesticide terminology, formulations, calibration, environmental concerns, safe handling, and laws and regulations concerning pesticides.
AGRI 117 Soil Science
Classification and characterization of soils and differences between soils, including physical, chemical, and biological properties. Relation of soils to land use and tillage, erosion, drainage, moisture supply and aeration practices. Relationship of soil properties to plant nutrition and to fertilizer chemistry, use, and management.
AGRI 217 Soil Fertility
Use of fertilizers for peak production at optimum cost; evaluation and comparison of different forms of macro- and micronutrients, their manufacture, handling and application, plant and soil chemistry.
JANUARY - MARCH
PAET 202 Application Control
Presents an in-depth survey of the electrical, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic control of fertilizer, pesticide and seed application using variable rate technology. The course also includes the use of precision harvesting systems to monitor and record yield data.
PAET 110 Precision Applicator Operations
This course will be designed for students to use our simulator and then move on to practice on actual application equipment.
MARCH - MAY
AGRI 280 Internship
The final step that will require a mid-term report and final report specifically related to your career objectives.
