June 7, 2022EP 33: Late to Plant, Wet Spots, & Weather Conditions
What do we do about this late planting? To provide his grower and agronomist’s perspective, Glenn Longabaugh joins hosts Sal Sama and Ryan Priest on today’s episode of The High Ground, powered by Premier Companies. Glenn is a returning guest several times over, and is an agronomist at WinField Solutions. With his degree in Agronomy from Purdue University combined with his years of experience in crop protection, plant nutrition, and soil fertility, you could say he’s an expert in his field.
Glenn provides an overview for what we can expect with ground that’s wet as we get later in the planting season. He’ll also discuss his thoughts on early-maturing corn, soybeans, population, and tactics for a grower to manage wet spots when you’re in a hurry. “There’s only one thing worse than planting in sub-optimal conditions early, and that’s planting in sub-optimal conditions in June! It’s the kiss of death.”
