EP 187: Phosphate Concerns, Planting Windows, & Unreasonable Fears
June 16, 2025When you think about propane, you might picture full tanks and warm homes. But there’s a lot that happens behind the scenes to make it all run smoothly. At Premier Energy, Bailey Beickman, Propane Manager, plays a key role in keeping operations coordinated, customers informed, and deliveries on track.
In this Q&A, Bailey shares what her day-to-day looks like, why she finds the work so rewarding, and how new tools and teamwork are shaping a better experience for Premier’s propane customers. Plus, we’re excited to announce the return of Summer Fill-Up: your chance to get ahead of winter with a simple step that saves time, stress, and money.
Let’s dive in and meet the person helping power homes, farms, and families all year long—then learn how you can benefit from this year’s Summer Fill-Up program.
Premier: Can you describe your day-to-day responsibilities as a member of the Propane team at Premier Energy?
Bailey: My day-to-day is all about keeping things running smoothly behind the scenes. I manage some of our propane office teams and stay in close contact with our drivers, service manager & technicians, sales department, and other staff at other branches. There’s a lot happening at once, so I’m constantly coordinating, adjusting, and making sure everyone has what they need to stay on track.
I handle some of the office training within the Propane Department and assist with customer communications, including seasonal mailings and updates. Right now, I’m working on rolling out new tank monitors in certain territories, which helps us schedule deliveries more efficiently for our scheduled customers.
No two days are exactly the same, and that’s what I like about it. Whether I’m solving a problem, sorting out a schedule, or just helping the team stay connected, I enjoy being in the middle of it all and finding ways to keep things moving forward.
Premier: What do you find most rewarding about working in the propane division?
Bailey: It’s knowing that what we do matters. Propane plays a big role in people’s lives—keeping homes warm, running farms and businesses, especially during the cold months. Being part of the team that helps make sure that all happens, day after day, is something I take pride in.
The team itself is a big part of it as well. Everyone’s willing to step up, jump in, and figure things out together. When the pressure’s on, this group doesn’t back down—we problem-solve, we communicate, and we get it done. That’s a good feeling to be part of.

Premier: How does your role contribute to ensuring reliable and safe propane service for Premier customers year-round?
Bailey: A big part of my job is staying ahead of what’s next by planning, coordinating, and keeping the lines of communication open across the team. Whether it’s working through schedules, checking in with the service side, or helping drivers with route updates, I’m focused on making sure we’re ready before things become urgent.
The tank monitors we’re installing in certain territories have been a big help too. For our scheduled delivery customers, those monitors give us real-time insight into usage so we can plan deliveries more accurately. That helps reduce surprises and keeps deliveries running smoothly.
Premier: What changes or improvements have you seen in the propane department and/or industry since you started, and how have those impacted customer experience?
Bailey: We’ve added a lot of tools and technology that have made a real difference. As I mentioned earlier, one of the biggest has been rolling out tank monitors for some of our scheduled delivery customers. Those give us real-time insight into tank levels, which helps us schedule deliveries more accurately and avoid runouts. It’s allowed us to be more proactive and plan smarter.
We’ve upgraded our routing system, which makes planning more efficient and gives us the flexibility to adjust when weather or demand shifts, especially in the busy season. On top of that, some of our equipment updates have made daily operations smoother and more reliable.
A lot of this wouldn’t have happened without the help of our IT Department. They’ve played a big role in getting these systems in place and helping us use them effectively. Their support has made it easier for the propane team to stay organized, connected, and focused on the customer. All of these improvements—technology, teamwork, and communication—have made things run better for us internally and created a better experience for our customers.
Premier: What skills or values do you think are most important for success on the Propane team at Premier Energy
Bailey: Dependability is huge. You have to show up, stay focused, and be ready to adjust when things change—which they often do in this line of work. Propane isn’t something people can afford to be without, especially during the winter in the Midwest. So when something needs to happen, it needs to happen quickly, which takes strong communication, follow-through, and a team-first mindset.
But just as important, you have to genuinely care. Care about the work you’re doing, care about the customers you’re serving, and care about the people you’re working beside. That kind of attitude shows up in the little things—how you solve a problem, how you handle a tough day, how you support your team. It’s a big part of what makes this department work, and I see it every day in the people around me.
Premier: Is there anything else you’d like to share about being a part of the Energy Team at Premier?
Bailey: I’m proud to be part of a team that consistently shows up and puts in the work. Our drivers, techs, sales team, office staff—everyone plays a part, and they give it their all, day in and day out. They’re the reason things run as smoothly as they do, even when the pressure’s on. People step up without being asked, look out for one another, and take pride in doing the job right.

Stay Ahead with Summer Fill-Up
When it comes to preparing for winter, there’s one simple step that can bring lasting peace of mind: Premier Energy’s Summer Fill-Up program. This annual offering is designed to help customers take control of their energy needs before the first cold snap ever arrives.
Why Fill Up in Summer?
Summer Fill-Up is all about proactive planning. By filling your propane tank during the warmer months, you not only avoid the stress and scheduling crunch of winter deliveries, but you also take advantage of typically more stable and lower seasonal pricing. With fewer weather disruptions and more flexibility, summer is an ideal time to get ahead so you’re not caught off guard when temperatures drop and demand spikes.
For families and farms alike, the benefits are clear. Whether it’s ensuring your home is winter-ready or keeping operations running smoothly through harvest, Summer Fill-Up makes it easier to focus on what matters most, without worrying about fuel availability or last-minute calls.
A Convenient, Hassle-Free Process
Premier Energy has made Summer Fill-Up as easy and convenient as possible. From sending helpful reminders and estimating your fuel needs to scheduling a fill at your convenience, the process is tailored to work around your life. And if you have questions or concerns, Premier’s team is always available to talk things through. Our goal is to help every customer feel confident, prepared, and supported.
Real Results, Real Relief
The value of Summer Fill-Up is more than just practical. It’s deeply appreciated by those who’ve experienced its impact. One farm, for example, stayed fully on track during a hectic harvest season because their tank was already full thanks to the program. And many homeowners have shared their relief at being prepared when a surprise cold front hit early. When timing matters, this kind of preparation can make all the difference.

Simple Tools, Smarter Service
To make the experience even smoother, Premier Energy has integrated with Agvend to launch the Premier Connect portal. Through this digital platform, customers can view statements and place orders with ease—another way Premier is bringing clarity and convenience to energy management.
