EP 199: Ag Account Management, Career Growth, & Phone Wallpapers
August 27, 2025Wow, these past few months have just flown by! We feel like we just said ‘hello’ to this year’s intern class, and now we’re sending them off to their next school year. In case you missed it, be sure to catch up on when we introduced this year’s class at the beginning of the summer.
After spending 2.5 months with the Premier team, we caught up with a few of the interns before they hung up their work boots for the year…
Carson Darlage, Agronomy Sales
Premier: What was your favorite memory from your summer at Premier?
Carson: Meeting all the full time employees and account managers, as well as the other interns, to learn a multitude of things from them about the field of agriculture and on a more personal level.
P: What was the most valuable lesson you learned this summer?
Carson: Communication is always essential in life, but even more essential is an evolving and situational dependent field (weather, timing, etc.) such as agriculture.
P: How has this internship influenced your long-term career goals?
Carson: It has solidified my desire to work within the agricultural field and work to tailor my career towards servicing growers in the best way possible.
P: Who is one Premier team member that impacted you and why?
Carson: One Premier team member that impacted me was Sal Sama. I learned some very valuable lessons from him in sales.

Katlynn Asbury, Agronomy
Premier: What was your favorite memory from your summer at Premier?
Katlynn: Definitely going through fields with the account managers and seeing how they make their decisions, those moments were really good learning opportunities. I also really enjoyed the truck rides with Larry Huffmeyer and hearing his awesome stories made the experience even more memorable.
P: What was the most valuable lesson you learned this summer?
Katlynn: No matter your age or experience level, there is always something new to learn in this field. Staying open minded and willing to learn from others truly makes a difference.
P: How has this internship influenced your long-term career goals?
Katlynn: This internship made me feel confident that I chose the right major in college. It reassured me that I’m heading in the right direction for my future, and it strengthened my passion for the agronomy field.
P: Who is one Premier team member that impacted you and why?
Katlynn: It’s hard to pick just one person who has had a big impact on me at Premier, especially after working closely with three amazing account managers. If I had to choose, it would be Emily Welch. Her work behind the scenes shows her true character. She helped support the interns this summer and was always ready to share her agronomic knowledge, answer questions, and set a good example. Her mentorship and teamwork made a real difference in my experience. She truly represents what it means to be a team player and a mentor.
P: Is there anything else you’d like to share about your experience at Premier this summer?
Katlynn: This was my first internship, and I truly don’t think any other company’s atmosphere or scenery could have compared to Premier’s. From the start, I was welcomed like family. I was able to learn so much in such a short amount of time, and I’m incredibly grateful for how driven and supportive every team member is. Their dedication to helping others succeed made a lasting impression on me.

Jack Cathey, Operations
Premier: What was your favorite memory from your summer at Premier?
Jack: My favorite memory from the summer was the opportunity to tend the airplane.
P: What was the most valuable lesson you learned this summer?
Jack: I would say the couple days I got to spend in the sprayer with the applicators. This was my first experience with this type of equipment and I learned a lot from the Premier team about the care and maintenance of the machines.
P: How has this internship influenced your long-term career goals?
Jack: Through this internship, I got to learn more about the chemical side and how the sprayers operate along with field scouting and spending some days with the account managers.
P: Who is one Premier team member that impacted you and why?
Jack: I would say Blake Little. He taught me a lot about the chemicals we use and why we use them. He also showed me how to run and work on the Fendt sprayers, which was an awesome experience.

Justin Bedel, Operations
Premier: What was your favorite memory from your summer at Premier?
Justin: It may sound a little funny, but I think my favorite memory was probably scooping fertilizer out of the fertilizer buggy.
P: What was the most valuable lesson you learned this summer?
Justin: The most valuable lesson I learned by far was to always double check your work. With the projects we’re on, it is imperative that we strive to get things right the first time. While we’re still human and won’t always be perfect, it just takes discipline to remember to double check your work.
P: Who is one Premier team member that impacted you and why?
Justin: Tom Wenning, he was a great mentor and excellent teacher for agronomy operations.
Here’s to the Next School Year
In addition to all of our interns impressing the Premier staff this summer, we’re pleased to share that every single one of them shared that they would be interested in rejoining Premier at some point in the future either in another internship position or in a full time capacity.
Investing in and inspiring the future generations of our industry is extremely important not just to the success of our company, but also the long-term success of our communities and our country.
We wish our 2025 group of interns the very best as they embark on their next leg in their educational journey!
